Adopt Putri

Putri (bottom) is an adult female East Bornean Orangutan who currently resides in Kutai National Park in East Kalimantan, Indonesia. She has two offspring (that we know of); Pur and Pan.

This is Putri, an adult female with her male offspring, Pur. Putri was first encountered in April of 2010. Unlike the other female orangutans, Putri is very uneasy when followed, and is very clever at eluding humans. She has often been observed hiding in her nest to avoid researchers. Along with this, Putri has been known to make kiss-squeaks or throw branches at researchers. Most Eastern Bornean orangutans are not known to travel too far, which is due to the sub-species living in nutritionally deficient areas, requiring them to minimize their energy use. However, Putri has been known to travel farther than most Eastern Bornean orangutans, having traveled over an area of 4 to 5 km2.
